The idea that biodiversity conservation, CO2 mitigation, and climate change adaptation can be aligned is at the core of nature-based solutions. With COP26 approaching, this digest outlines four nature-based guidelines that policymakers should consider when addressing the world's most daunting problems.
KEY CHALLENGE
To rapidly scale up sustainable and coherent, yet ambitious, solutions that effectively and simultaneously address the challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss.
POLICY INSIGHT
Governments and the private sector should increase investment in nature-based solutions while rapidly phasing-out the use of fossil fuels and ending ecosystem loss and damage within supply chains. Meanwhile, investments must support projects that are biodiversity based and people-led.
